Remember the good ol’ days?
Let's take a trip down memory lane.
Welcome to the 11th issue of Write On!
The newsletter that Tony The Tiger described as “GRRRREAT!”
Thanks, Big T.

ChatGPT played the role of Steven Spielberg in this conversation. 😉

Remember the Good Ol’ Days?
Of course, you do.
That’s what today’s mini deep dive (shallow dive? 🤔) is all about. The good ol’ days.
Imagine you’re back in your 3rd-grade classroom.
You just finished up recess.
You’re sweating like a maniac.
But you don’t care.
Because you’re in 3rd grade, and life is simple.
You only need to breeze through your final lesson of the day, and you’re home free.
So you start to focus as your teacher writes out the “word of the day” on the chalkboard:
Now, maybe your teacher isn’t throwing the words “sentimental longing” or “wistful” at you at this point in your education… but you get the point.
Just creating this scene of:
3rd grade
After recess
Without a care in the world…
might leave some of you feeling a bit nostalgic right now.
And it’s probably got you more engaged in this portion of the newsletter.
We just took a completely unrelated positive experience from your hypothetical past and tied it to a copywriting lesson to make it more engaging.
My guess is some of you are reading this newsletter nodding along and thinking: “wow, he’s absolutely right.”
I bet some of you might also be reading this and thinking: “What a dumb example. 3rd grade sucked.”
First…
Second… here are two more examples of how you can use nostalgia in your copywriting.
Example #1: If you were selling an email marketing course 👇
Example 2: If you want to narrow in on a specific value prop for your product 👇
💡Bottom line: Nostalgia is an excellent way to connect with your reader on a deeper level and create postive associations with your brand.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading.
See you next Wednesday!
Joe
